On the behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 54th Annual Meeting of the Scientific and Standardization Committee of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis that will be held in Vienna, July 2–5, 2008.
Maintaining the tradition of past SSC Annual Meetings, international scientists from the ISTH Scientific and Standardization Committee’s subcommittees and working groups will share their expertise in various fields of thrombosis, hemostasis and vascular biology.
New for 2008 however, we will expand the traditional concept of the Scientific and Standardization Committee Annual Meeting.
For the first time in the history of the Society, we dedicate a whole day of the meeting to education, featuring state-of-the-art lectures, case discussions, and meet-the-expert sessions. This novel feature will be designed to attract not just long-standing participants, but attendees from eastern European countries as well as from countries in the far and Middle East.
Vienna, located in the heart of Europe, is the perfect venue for a meeting with such an ambitious goal. The city of music and culture with its famous museums and many historical places offers splendid opportunities for inspiring off-meeting activities.
We cordially invite you to make the 54th Annual SSC Meeting in Vienna most successful.
